SA Patch Design Winner

Spokane Airsoft is happy to announce we have reached a verdict on the patch design we'd like to represent the community.

We had entries from Sonic, CrazyKiller, No-Name, Daneel Arkady and JD_Shadow, we looked at all of them and spent several days going over the merits of each one. There was the tactical look of Daneel's patch, but then Sonic came up with a recognizable icon, the Monroe Street Bridge, for his design. No-Name gave us a plethora of different variations of similar patterns while CrazyKiller went the same route as Sonic incorporating a recognizable landmark - the Riverfront Park clocktower - in his design and JD used a similar tactical look as Daneel did with some of his patterns.

It was a tough decision, but we reached a decision this evening on the one we favored over the rest.

JD_Shadow's 'SA' design.

We liked the clean, elegant look of this design for a lot of different reasons but one thing that Rich pointed out to Jeremy and I was that we could use this patch as a springboard of sorts for the next step in the patch design: Tabs.

Our idea is to create a tab for each specialized school we put on for the community. The first and most obvious one would be the one you see over to the right. We would like to create an 'SA Sniper' tab that shows everyone that you have attended the safety / tactical training course and achieved mastery of the course of instruction.

Once we have the resources the goal is get these tabs purchased and issue them to whoever rates them. And if and when we do subsequent courses like a crew-served weapons course for example, then we'll look into putting resources to developing a special tab for that activity as well.

Finally, there were a lot of people who said they were going to give us ideas but only a few followed through and gave us ideas. We appreciate the hard work you guys put into each of your designs.

With that said, JD_Shadow wins a full-year's membership in the Spokane Airsoft Club to which he can apply either to this year's or next year's dues.

As for No-Name, Sonic, CrazyKiller, and Daneel Arkady, we don't want you guys going away empty-handed.

We wanted to show each of you our appreciation for coming up with some really great designs. With that said we decided that each of you has won a "coupon" awarding you free participation in any event of your choosing that we host any time this year. One day skirmish, two day event, what ever you choose. All you need to do is let us know when you want to redeem your coupon and you're welcome on the field free of charge.

Great [censored] JD. The patch really does look great and thanks to SA admin for the free coupon. I really appreciate it!

Hope to see you all on the field sporting the new patch!

Oh, and one question I did have, will we be using the ACU version only or will wee have a "green side" patch with multicam/marpat/OD? Eithier way, love it and love the tab idea for schools attended. Really will give incentive to attend the schools.

Jacob,

Actually we're going to modify the patch a bit. We're going to keep the design intact but instead of having a fill-in color on SA we're going to go with an all-black 'SA' on an olive drab background.

The reason we're going to do this is a matter of equity. And cash. People wear OD, ACU, MARPAT, all kinds of different outfits, and instead of having one pattern be the focus we're going with a single color.

Depending on funding, we'd like to consider purchasing both a flat black on OD version and later if there's demand a tan on sand desert version.
